1. I once lost a Bambi stuffed animal inside a circular rack of jeans at the Woodhaven Meijer when I was four. I never got over that.

2. I'm scrambling to finish a few more scarves by Christmas. It sucks because now I'm working on them by order of priority, which I hate doing. I normally like to jump back and forth between them.

3. I partied a little harder than normal on Saturday, and paid for it Sunday morning. But Sarah and I still made it in time to see Paul in the Glassmen show and tell near Toledo, so go me. And I suppose Paul also, haha. Fingers crossed!

4. I'm excited for finals this year--I'll actually be within a thousand miles this time!! Hooray! :D

5. I didn't have to stand in broad daylight to disprove Patti's vampire theory. It seems that simply being up at miscellaneous points throughout the day was good enough for her. Dumbass.

6. I got an awesome present for the White Elephant gift exchange tomorrow.

7. I need reeds. and Star Trek. And really small knitting needles so I can work with tape yarn. FML.

8. Ate!

9. Go Wyoming!!

10.
I won't be able to go to Michigan State this fall. Two letters of recommendation are required, and at the start of OCTOBER (which was when I made the decision to come home) I had talked to Drs. Griffith and Belser about it, who both said they would be happy to write them. I got back into Michigan on November 1st (later than I had hoped, but I couldn't leave sooner because the snow had shut down the interstates for a few days prior), and started getting stuff taken care of to apply to the University.

I applied to MSU, and then on the 8th I was partway through applying to the school of music, and I tried contacting both of them regarding the letters (really it's not even a letter, just a 2 page form to fill out, with a questionnaire and a single paragraph). I got replies from neither of them. Thinking the problem was with my soon-to-be-deleted UW email address, I sent it from another, and this time got an automated response from Dr. Belser, saying he would be out of his office until July 6th. I called the music office at UW and began leaving messages all over the department, and then tried contacting Stephanie, Jerome, and Sam. Sam I never heard back from, and Stephanie and Jerome both said I had to find someone else since they haven't heard me in a while.

I WASN'T ENROLLED IN CLASSES this year. I worked, and I played in TWO ENSEMBLES. I need TWO letters of recommendation, and I tried getting them from the the TWO people who conducted the TWO ensembles I was in. The next most-recent person is Jerome, who taught me in the Spring, but apparently that was too long ago.

Anyway, Dr. Griffith finally responded on Thanksgiving, saying he could do it, which is great because he's who I really needed. He went to MSU, and studied with the teacher I'm trying to get in with. Also, he's awesome. Stephanie would've been my next best bet, since she also knows Elsa and is part of that whole little clarinet circle. But since I couldn't seem to get a fucking clarinetist, I asked Zeld, who I thought was my backup, despite being a flutist and having not taught me since 7th grade. I mean, really she's the person who has heard me most recently, but that didn't keep her from refusing for the same reasons as everyone else.

My audition is supposed to be in late February/early March (they can't give me an official date until everything is turned in). I have everything else taken care of, and I emailed the music department at MSU about the letters, but I didn't receive a response. So I called, but the lady in the office said "I'm sorry, you must have two". I just... don't know what more I can do. I still plan to move to Lansing before Fall. I guess I'll just go to LCC and get some gen eds out of the way, and try again the following semester, and the semester after that, and so on until I don't get fucked over.

Grampa isn't doing so hot, and Bryce has been going to a lot of appointments for his knee. They said he either has Muscular Dystrophy, which will likely reach the heart by the time he's twelve, or Cerebral Palsy, which can be managed. I guess they'll have to do a muscle biopsy to confirm though. :(

But on the less depressing side, Lisa's 21st was good, I have too many scarves to finish by Christmas, and I should have my new phone by tomorrow.

Sigh.

1. Hooray for selling furniture!

2. Packing and cleaning all day today, then getting a late lunch with friends around 3. Tomorrow I'll load the Caliber and be off.

3. I have my final performance with the Wind Symphony tonight. The highlight of this concert is Maslanka's 8th. I still prefer 4, but 8 is right up there. Afterward we're all going to The Library for drinks. It's just about the only bar I actually like.

4. I went and listened to one of the orchestra's rehearsals on Tuesday, and I'm SUPER SAD I won't be able to play with them again. The pieces they're working on are amazing.

5. I'm ridiculously nervous about MSU. But I'm going to try to continue with performance.

6. We have SO MUCH snow right now. It started snowing two nights ago, and there have only been brief pauses since then. It's snowing even now. I hope the roads will be decent when I leave.

7. I'm really going to miss some of these people. Along with the mountains and open spaces. Sure, I'll be visiting, and it will be just as beautiful, but it won't be the same. I won't feel like I'm part of it anymore. *Sigh*

WELP. BACK TO WERK. D:

Hahaa. Love.

I've sold a few Hogwarts scarves so far. No one's asked for Ravenclaw yet though, which makes me sad--I was curious to see if people preferred Ravenclaw from the movies or Ravenclaw from the books. :3

A couple people currently have the UW one, and then I made Lisa's Michigan State one the same way, but added tassels. I have also made approximately 1.5 hats.

The green and pink wavy one I want to sell for $16. I made it because it's a popular color combination, and there were six people that seemed genuinely interested in it (there were a couple others I elected to NOT take srsly), but so far it's just been chillin' on a hanger in my closet. *shrug* do not want.

Anyway, I currently have four WIPs, and once I've taken photos of more, I can post another batch up here. :D

Aside from that things've really been sucking lately. But I'll get over it. I always do.

<lj:music>"Nowhere Man" -- The Beatles</lj:music>

It's been a while.

My car got covered in a couple inches of snow the other night. Wtf September?

There is a Wind Symphony concert this Thursday, preceded by a dress rehearsal on Wednesday. I held a sectional today to help prepare, because the music is tough and I have saxophonists in my section.

There is a department-wide shortage of clarinetists this year, and a surplus of players in the other woodwinds, so saxophones and flutes have made the switch for ensembles. It's... interesting, haha. Today I focused on their embouchures, the chromatic scale, and basic stuff concerning their clarinets and the nature of the instrument in general. Then we spent the bulk of our time cleaning technical passages, and I went over all the places where they could "fake it" and how to go about it. I was pleased with the results, tomorrow we'll see what they retained.

I got annoyed with Weston last week, who feels that it is disrespectful for me (and the rest of my section) to refer to the 3rds as saxophonists. Just because you play clarinet in something, does not make you a clarinetist. However, if you regularly play an instrument in an ensemble, you can at least say you "play" that instrument. We do not regard them as clarinetists, but we still acknowledge that they play the clarinet.

Anyone who knows me knows I own and have messed around with a lot of instruments, but I'm not actually good at any of them. I only know the basics, enough to get a 6th or 7th grader started (and enough to perform basic repairs on most band instruments). Same goes for the saxophone. I teach it, and have private students, but any of the saxophone students I have had have been sent to other teachers once they started 8th grade (which used to mean Mr. Skura, but then I started sending them to A+R). In any case, I may have played other instruments in various ensembles over the years, but I am a clarinetist, and that is all.

In any case, Weston is the only one who seems bothered by this (the saxophonists in my section understand this and aren't hung up on it at all), but I've been making an effort to call them the "thirds" lately, in order to appease him.

I finally wrote a letter replying to my mother, but have yet to send it out since I decided to make her a scarf. Where she's at she won't have much use for it, but I thought she might like it anyway, and you never know when she'll end up back home again. Regardless, it will be done tomorrow (all I have left to do is the outline and tassels), so I can send her the package later this week.

I've been having trippy dreams lately. There was one where I had to fight a snake with antlers, but then it fell in love with me so I tried to run it over with my car in a parking lot. There was a lot more to it than that though, but that was the gist of it.

Before that though, I dreamt this:

The sketch is obviously unfinished, but I wanted to get the lines on paper before I forgot.

Also, I've been making Pokemon inspired scarves! Lol. They're pretty sweet, I'll have pictures up soon.

Well, it is now 12:30, which gives me just under 3 hours to nap before I have to work. Sobye.

P.S.
Beatles Rock Band is awesome. The end.

I finally got around to taking pics of my room here in Laramie:

House poster on my door.

To the left after entering.

I had to raise the cage with a box so Boca could see me while I'm at the computer. Otherwise, the music stand would obstruct his view and he would scream for attention. He still sometimes sits in the back of his cage so he can't see me around the bookcase, and screams anyway.

I have a lot of books lent out right now. I'm knitting and crocheting different things and playing games and watching movies and reading books and sketching and I've made a few trips up into the Snowies for pictures. I still need to go up Jelm again though before that one roll is through, and then I have to mail it to Melissa so she can reshoot.

Boca's being a turd. We went into the city and took tons of photos and I parallel parked a swan boat cuz' I'm ridiculously cool.

I'm in love with Hank the Donut and Kurt the Salamander. They're my faves. I'll have pictures up eventually<3

I finished another scarf the other day, and I'm about halfway done remaking my rainbow one.

Tomorrow I have nothing planned. I need to move some furniture and finish getting Gramma situated upstairs, and then I'll probably just spend the rest of the day doing little fun things, which're the best.
Saturday will be spent with Melissa, Alena, and Natalya. Movies and games I imagine.
Sunday I'll be packing and hanging out with Gramma and then heading to Lansing, until I set out for Laramie on Tuesday night.

<33

I just saw an MLIA that someone was trying to go to google and had accidentally typed in one 'o' too many, but they said Google came up anyway. I spent the next few minutes typing in different numbers of o's to see what all came up (and then submitted an MLIA about it). When I got to seven, it brought up Gooooooogle.com, and I searched "lolz".

The first link listed is for Urban Dictionary, which said:
gooooooogle - 1 definition - Just "google" but the 'tard typing got carried away

lol i'm a 'tard

PS.
It stops at 12
